What does Skilled.dev do?
Skilled.dev is a self-paced course that prepares aspiring software engineers for technical interviews. Designed by a former software engineer at Postmates (acquired by Uber), the curriculum covers both the technical coding concepts and the practical interviewing strategies that aspiring software engineers can apply to their job search.
The course includes 66+ recorded videos, coding tutorials, and guided articles that offer a step-by-step breakdown of interview questions. Students complete hands-on coding challenges with an in-browser coding window. The technical curriculum first covers Big O notation, arrays, hash tables, strings, recursion, linked lists, as well as searching & sorting. Next, students work with trees, graphs, dynamic programming, Stacks & Queues, and JavaScript. The curriculum also teaches students how interviewers assess candidates and how they can stand out in different interview scenarios. While students can submit feedback on their experience with the course, no live instruction or personalized learning is included.
The course’s creator has also built free job search tools on gitconnected.com including a resume builder, portfolio API, and coding tutorials ranked by developers. Anyone can start using these free tools right away, regardless of whether they buy the full course.
Who is Skilled.dev for?
Aspiring software engineers who are looking to improve their technical skills and practice for interviews can benefit from Skilled.dev. The program is especially helpful for people looking for a self-paced prep course with an extensive technical curriculum. Students seeking a practical course with hands-on coding challenges and in-depth breakdowns of interview questions could also be a good fit.
While the course does not have any formal admissions process, students should have at least some software engineering background to fully benefit from the technical curriculum.

Ratings and reviews
As a relatively new program, Skilled.dev does not have many reviews. However, the Daily Dev blog rated them 4.5/5 stars where the reviewer liked that it was “as complete as possible, so you never have to leave the platform.” The reviewer also appreciated that “it’s comprehensive: each question contains a step-by-step guided text article, a solution walkthrough video, and an integrated code execution environment to test your solutions.” However, the blog did warn that “it’s quite fresh, and if you can’t make the leap of faith of being an early adopter, perhaps it’s not for you.” The program has also been listed as one of Learn to Codes 22 best coding interview courses.
